Acorn Hollow Makers Workshop

Explore woodland textures, character sculpting and the gentle craft of making a tiny world that opens to life.

£120.00

Some creations feel like they’re alive with story — this is one of them. In this cosy, imaginative workshop, you’ll build a beautifully detailed acorn home that opens to reveal a tiny furnished world inside. From sculpting the acorn shell to designing miniature furniture and creating a small squirrel character, this project is a joyful blend of woodland magic, storytelling and tiny‑world making. The project has a playful, pocket‑world feel — a tiny home that opens to reveal the story within.

Polymer clay is wonderfully soft and forgiving, making it perfect for beginners who are ready to explore something a little more detailed and atmospheric. You’ll use a form to shape your acorn, then bring it to life with textures, colour, moss, vines and gentle woodland details. Inside, you’ll design and furnish a miniature home — perhaps a chair, a bed, shelves, a lamp, a mirror, tiny pictures or anything your imagination dreams up.

You’ll also create a small squirrel character who “lives” inside the acorn, sculpted from a peg‑doll base and full of personality. Whether cosy, curious or playful, your squirrel becomes the heart of your tiny woodland dwelling.

We’ll move at a relaxed, nurturing pace, with natural pauses for curing, painting and creative reflection. No previous experience is needed — just curiosity, imagination and a love of tiny, story‑rich worlds.

During this workshop you’ll explore a wide range of simple but beautifully effective techniques — including some more advanced sculpting and finishing methods that bring depth, charm and enchantment to your finished piece:

Building a 3D acorn form — shaping and covering the structure with clay

Texturing and detailing — bark, cap patterns, moss, vines and woodland touches

Designing a tiny interior — creating miniature furniture and cosy furnishings

Sculpting a squirrel character — using a peg‑doll base to form a tiny resident

Adding personality — expressive features, accessories and tiny details

Painting and finishing — adding depth, warmth and gentle highlights

Assembling your acorn home — bringing all the elements together into a magical, open‑and‑close woodland dwelling

Your completed Acorn Hollow home becomes a joyful decorative piece, a unique gift, or a treasured keepsake filled with woodland warmth and imagination.

Everything you need is provided, including forms, clay, tools and miniature materials. Please note: clay colours may vary slightly on the day.
