Mushroom Melody Jars Workshop
Explore translucent clay, miniature landscapes and soft woodland lighting in this musical workshop.
£120.00
A gentle melody, a glowing jar, and a world of tiny woodland wonders waiting to be shaped. In this imaginative workshop, you’ll create your own illuminated musical jar — complete with a sculpted mushroom cap lid, a wind‑up melody, and a miniature glowing scene nestled safely inside the glass.
Polymer clay is a wonderfully soft, colourful material that bakes hard in a standard home oven — no kiln or specialist equipment needed. It’s flexible, forgiving, and surprisingly easy to work with, making it perfect for beginners who are ready to explore something a little more detailed and atmospheric.
Across this joyful project, you’ll learn how to colour translucent clay with inks and shimmering foils, shaping it into a beautiful mushroom cap that sits over a hidden musical mechanism. Inside the jar, you’ll build a tiny world of your own — glowing with micro fairy lights, dotted with fungi, moss and miniature details, and even featuring resin pools or streams if you choose. You can decorate the outside too, adding tiny creatures, vines or hanging elements to make your jar feel alive with story.
We’ll move at a relaxed, nurturing pace, with natural pauses for curing, painting and creative reflection. No previous experience is needed — just curiosity, imagination, and a love of gentle woodland magic.
During this workshop you’ll explore a wide range of simple but beautifully effective techniques — including some more advanced sculpting and finishing methods that bring depth, glow and enchantment to your finished piece:
• Colouring translucent clay — using alcohol inks and foils for glowing, magical effects
• Sculpting a mushroom cap lid — shaping, texturing and fitting it over the musical mechanism
• Building a tiny world — creating miniature landscapes, fungi, stones and woodland details
• Adding micro lights — weaving soft illumination through your scene
• Working with resin — creating water, pools, streams or magical liquid effects
• Decorating the outside — adding moss, vines, fungi or tiny creatures around the jar
• Creating hanging elements — suspended fireflies, spores, stars or charms
• Painting and finishing — adding depth, colour and gentle highlights
• Assembling your musical jar — bringing all the elements together into a glowing, melodic display
Your completed Mushroom Melody Jar becomes a magical decorative piece for your home, a unique gift, or a treasured keepsake filled with light, music and imagination.
Everything you need is provided, including lights, inks, foils and the musical mechanism. Please note: clay colours may vary slightly on the day.
