Inspired by the gentle strength of the robin and by my son Archie’s beautiful bird photography (Instagram: a.garth.wildlifephotos), New Beginnings is a hand‑sculpted polymer clay artwork celebrating hope, endurance, and the quiet unfolding of change.
A detailed robin perches on a textured branch surrounded by oak leaves, acorns, and a single red berry — each chosen for its symbolic meaning. Oak for strength. Acorns for potential. The robin for joy and renewal.
Sculpted in low relief over a foil armature, the piece is shaped and textured entirely by hand. The background features Laurie Mika–inspired metal‑leaf grout techniques, with stamped details adding depth, richness, and a sense of gentle movement.
Sculpted into the design are the words: “Embrace the oak’s strength. Trust in change, and let joy, like the robin, find you.”
